The Similan/Surin Islands are archipelagos in the Andaman Sea off the west coast of Thailand. They consist of 16 islands and are renowned for their beauty and idyllic views. The diving at these islands is world famous and is on most divers’ top 10 list of places to visit in the world. Frequently spotted marine life would be white tip reef sharks, sting rays, schools of barracudas, giant trevallies, leopard sharks, and if you’re in luck whale sharks, and mantas. Come join us on The Junk Liveaboard, a stunning, historical 33m vessel that offers liveaboard diving holidays in Thailand. Originally built in 1962 as a sailing cargo vessel, she was completely overhauled and refitted in 1997 to the vessel she is today. Built from the finest Asian teak wood known as Takien Tong, she is a three mast junk vessel with beautiful 330 square metres of sails that are both fully functional. We will spend the first night in Khao Lak at Poseidon Bungalows, a quaint hotel, in a quiet corner of the town. Next, we will spend 5 days and 4 nights aboard The Junk and we plan to do 14 dives at a variety of dive sites spread throughout the island chain. On the final night, we will enjoy a night on Phuket Island. Itinerary: Feb 5 – Travel to Thailand. Check into Poseidon Bungalows in Khao Lak. Dinner together (included). Feb 6 – Check out of hotel. Free time during the day. Pickup from hotel at ~18:00. Board The Junk, 19:00 departure. Feb 7-9 – Schedule will vary, but there will be 3 dives planned each day as well as all meals and some shore excursions. Feb 10 – 2 dives in the morning and then arrive back in Khao Lak. Disembark at ~ 14:00. Transport to hotel in Phuket Total number of dives planned on this cruise: 14 dives. Please note that all itineraries and dive sites are subject to various unpredictable changes, including weather changes and changes in local and national government approval.
